Metallic Refining

Precious metal refining is the separation of precious metals from noble-metalliferous materials.

To begin the purification process of scrap gold, we will melt the metal in a furnace with fluxing agents. After thoroughly mixing the molten metal, pin samples are taken for analysis which will determine the content of the precious metals contained.

The final stage of gold production -- refining -- material is shotted and placed in digestion kettles with acids to begin the dissolving stage for reclaiming the precious metals. Solutions bearing the precious metals are then filtered and the gold is precipitated, filtered, rinsed and melted. Profiners produces .9999+ Fine Au Grain.

Customers who wish to witness the handling of their material may do so by appointment only. You will be guided through the receiving and melting process and given a homogenous pin sample of your material. In most cases, karat gold scrap lots are completed within 24 hours.

Karat scrap jewelry with stones? We will remove and clean the stones for return to you. This process is achieved through an acid leach that allows the stones to be removed and cleaned without damaging the stones. Refining lots that contain stones are usually completed within 48 hours.

Settlement Options

1) Safe-Keeping Accounts	Fine Au and/or Fine Ag grain shipped per customer specifications. Fine Au and/or Fine Ag grain shipped directly to customer.
2) Shipment	Armored Vehicle, Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS
3) Customer Return	Metal may be converted to coins/bars - fee Metals purchased by Profiners; Fees deducted
4) Metal Price	Payment is made by bank wire or company check day of sale. Metals purchased by Profiners; Fees billed to customer.

Metals are piced as follows:

SILVER at the London AM Fix;
GOLD, PALLADIUM and PLATINUM at the London PM Fix
Comex or spot pricing is available upon request

Metal is priced on the next business day once settlement is confirmed. Shipment of metal is normally done via Registered Mail or Federal Express unless other arrangments are made by the customer. Postage fees are billable to the customer.
